My old Readers Digest atlas shows Norwick is closer to the Arctic Circle than it is to London and it looks wonderful! I’m reading a big book by Nicholas Crane “The Making of the British Landscape” (he’s been on the TV) that is full of detail about Shetland and the fascinating places you have visited and its long history affected by so many climate changes. A Trip Reporter by Terry Marsh in 2016 describes ‘the synergy of harmonious inter-relationships founded on self-sufficiency and communality [and] a relaxed pleasantness with everyone including touring strangers” – very poetic and quite justified!!
So beautiful, and what an achievement to tech this most northern part. It was good to hear the references to The Shetlands last night on Springwatch. Xx
