Wilding tonight at Rackwick.
Walked 2.5m in from Rackwick along a rough path to view the 137m high stack from Tuaks o’the Boy. Our afternoon expedition meant we missed the groups doing the same walk on a day trip from the Orkney Mainland and we had the viewpoint to ourselves.
Overnighting tonight at Point of Ness campsite with views to Stromness and Scapa Flow. Here currently with 9 other sets of campers (3 x tents, 2 x caravans, 2 x motorhomes and 2 x campervans) it is busier than our last visit when only 2 other vans joined us. Will take the ferry to Hoy […]
A forecast of northerly F5 to 7, moderate to rough with wintery showers greeted us this morning for our trip across the Pentland Firth to Stromness. Well it could have been worse because the winds had dropped from those of the last few days. Anyway coffee and toast followed by time in a cosy seat […]
Is this the same day? A sunny view over Loch Eriboll before a ‘white-out’ enroute to Thurso which left the front of the van caked in snow and now hail at Dunnet Bay.
After six years we have finally made it to Cape Wrath. Our last attempt was thwarted by weather and the Army but this time on arrival we found that a ferry would leaving in 90 mins time and to complete our luck the sun came out too.
Lovely scenic drive following the Moray Firth Tourist route to Altnaharra with a perfect coffee stop enroute and now a loch side pitch.
Now near the head of the Cromarthy Firth at Dingwall. The view is from a local picnic area and looks down the Firth with the Black Isle to the right.
A bright morning so a walk to explore the town and get a few provisions. Unfortunately couldn’t view the inside of St Andrews as the doors were locked. Sadly rain clouds are now hiding the surrounding hills.
