Another night, another beach. This time it’s Lund Beach and maybe we might see some otters later.
Found the forerunner to today’s RoRo ferry services and very reassured with the advances made to the inter island ferries. The easy passage to Unst this afternoon would have been very much more involved according to the old photos in the Fetlar Interpretive Centre showing a car on planks across the old ferry boat.
Another remote location for tonight above the beach with the freshwater loch behind it. Moved on after a coastal walk around Funzie Ness.
Surrounded by sheep, cows and birds at Loch Funzie tonight. A nearby Geowall illustrates the local geology.
A return visit to make use of the laundry facilities before travelling to Fetlar tomorrow for a couple of days via two ferries. Like our previous visit we arrived under leaden skies prior enjoying a brighter end to the day.
A community run site offering EHU, water and emptying facilities in the grounds of their local hall.
A circular walk today from Isbister to the most northerly point on Shetland Mainland via the old fishing station of Fethaland.
Wilding alongside the light tonight surrounded by stacks, geos, coves and blow holes including the collapsed cave Calder’s Geo which reaches 300m inland.
